Please forgive me for responding to this, and adding a Ruby newbie comment.

I am coming from a Java background and am really Really REALLY liking Ruby.

Before I try and start pushing Ruby for all my project work I would love
to see DBI/RDBC done.

I would like to be a part of the process for this, and want put up my
hand to support whoever wants to own it.

Unfortunately my C/low level programming skills aren't currently good
enuf to own it.
