This kind of activity seem to be so common these days that may I suggest two
different enhancements (one is probably enough) to the current policy:

1) make unsubscribing process automatic
2) share the list administration workload

Even one single user who just want get rid of message flood and gets a bad
taste due to lengthy unsubscribing process is a lost prospective evangelist.
