When I saw this thread, I immediately started thinking "Hmm... Wiki page...". It'd be nice to have a mechanism and a site for uploading logos to. I'd be even better if Matz would settle on a mascot, or a logo, for Ruby itself :-) Visual clues are very important for memory association. If a person sees 10 different "Powered by Ruby" logos that have no common, stylized graphic, they'll tend to have 10 different memory locations in their brains with very little association between the data. Sooner or later, the brain will empty the mental trash, and they'll lose those data points. With fewer data points associated to Ruby, Ruby itself will become a weaker datapoint. This is how advertising works. Bombard the consumer with a consistent logo; they see it everywhere, and the product itself becomes an important part of their world by how many associations they have connected to it in their brain. Said another way, without a formal logo, Ruby is handicapped in the mindshare department. Not crippled, but handicapped. -- |..
