I like this idea.

I also think it would be useful to state what Ruby version each 
particular LibRef entry first appeared in, and also notes about which
version certain enhancements/deprecations occurred in, since Ruby 
development is so dynamic.  For comparison, the online PHP manual does 
this to some extent, and Zend has an even more thorough breakdown at 
<http://www.zend.com/phpfunc/index.php> (see the alphabetical list). 
<http://www.php.net/manual/function.array-reverse.php> (shows version)

It seems to be something commonly requested, and eventually having 
such annotations for Ruby would help developers know what to expect.
I'm not sure there is time to fit it in the book, though.
