   ANNOUNCEMENTS

   Ruby/Google 0.3.0
          Ian Macdonald announced the latest release of Ruby/Google([1])
          which allows Rubyists to access Google's new SOAP-driven Web
          API.

   Xmms-Ruby 0.1.0
          Paul Duncan released the latest version of Xmms-Ruby([2]).
          Xmms([3]) stands for "X MultiMedia System"

   Cherry Blosxom 0.1.5
          Rich Seymour announced the release of Cherry Blosxom([4]), a
          "lightweight yet feature-packed Weblog application designed
          from the ground up with simplicity, usability, and
          interoperability in mind". It's written in Ruby.

   REXML 2.1.3
          Sean Russell announced the latest release of his REXML([5]) XML
          processor written in Ruby. Several bugs have been squashed.

   Practical Ruby 0.1.0
          Baptiste Lepilleur announced the release of Practical
          Ruby([6]). "Practical Ruby aims to be a fast evolving IDE for
          Ruby development. To provide fast evolution, most of Practical
          Ruby is (will be) itself written in Ruby."

          A thread about this Fall's Ruby Conference and what kinds of
          topics should be covered started this week.

          Lots of discussion this week about having Ruby Code Retreats.
          The idea is that several us Rubists would gather together in
          remote locations like Washington's Olympic Peninsula to discuss
          various Ruby related issues and work on projects.
