    succ=true
    if (toen) then
        begin
            timeout(tmout) {
                Process.wait(ret)
                $AveSubPID = nil
                succ=$?.success?
                $AveErrno = $?.exitstatus
            }
        rescue Timeout::Error => e
            echo "(timeout) "
            kill_sub_process(ret)
            $AveSubPID = nil
            succ = false
            $AveErrno = $?.exitstatus
        end
    else
        Process.wait(ret)
        $AveSubPID = nil
        succ=$?.success?
