rpkg - Ruby Package Management System 0.3

What is it
==========

A multi-platform system for installation, removal, and browsing of
Ruby modules.

What it does
============

Forget searching for modules, downloading and unpacking archives,
reading installation instructions, crowding and losing track of
library directories, spreading documentation and tests all over. Just
look at this:

	rapt search keyword keyword keyword ...

...will show a list of modules whose description contains the keyword.

	rapt show module

...will show a description of the module along with other useful
information.

	rapt install module

...will fetch from the net and install the module library files,
binaries, documentation and tests. Easier (and faster) than single
click installations.

It shamelessly copies many functionalities from the great Debian
packaging system, and is written in pure Ruby.

Changes from the previous version:

- File format now conforms almost totally to Debian's: a data.tar.gz
containing the actual package content and a control.tar.gz containing
the metadata are archived in a `ar' format archive.

- Total rework of the repository hierarchy. Multiple distributions
(such as stable, testing, unstable) are supported.

- Addition of rpkg-util tool to quickly setup a local package base.

- Tutorial on browsing and installing packages.

- Tutorial on creating packages.
