Hi,
a way is
1) memorize into a var the last directory:
file = Tk.getOpenFile
@last_dir = File.dirname(file) if !file.nil?
2) use the option 'initialdir' of Tk.getOpenFile
file = Tk.getOpenFile('initialdir'=>@last_dir)
