  well you maybe heard about OpenAL project (same as OpenGL, just the 'A'
stands for Audio). 

Ruby openAL :

OpenAL itself (important because of documentation):
http://connect.creativelabs.com/openal/default.aspx

I did not tried it. All I know is that OpenAL is very good thing and I found
that ruby project. I hope it will help you.
