That is because the first time *I* read about duck typing was in a post
by Alex Martelli in early 2000 *and* he wrote as if the term was already
estabilished (which could be meaningless). 

I was just curious whether someone could date the first uses from
Thomas. Of course Thomas Duck Typing in Google gives too many results to
check.
