Wow. Rock on.  Now that you've pointed out this syntax I find it 
addictive and use it a lot.

My next wish:
that
string =~ 'abc'

would work.  It's not a regex, but I would imagine it makes sense to 
auto-convert it :)
At least I'd use it.
