You could do something like this, with alias_method, which seems to work
nicely...

class A
  def a
    puts "A.a"
  end
end

class B < A
  alias_method  :super_A_a, :a
  def a
    puts "B.a"
  end
  def b
    super_A_a
    a
  end
end

b = B.new
b.b
