You mean "record it" ??.. Then what is  "it".   That is the Data. which is 
row but does hold info (rith or wrong/good or bad) in has something in it.. 
Now we (meatware) gives the interpretations to 'it' which is derived from 
the nature of 'data' (meta data & datum). .
Note : A datum is a statement accepted at face value (a "given").Data is 
the plural of datum.
