The talk (and assorted audience chatter) was given via IM.

I was wondering, though, if one could hook up a Shoutcast server (as SL 
does with concerts) for audio.

Yeah, I'm an SL nube myself, but I did figure out how to teleport to the 
Rubyist meeting.  But I somehow triggered a screen resolution change and 
then SL crashed on me.
