My biggest problem right now. It looks like you can install GTK, and I
think Tk, on OS X once you have installed XDarwin, but I haven't
succeeded, so I am restricted to command line stuff right now. I even
went through the long download to get Fink, thinking this would ease
getting this X windows stuff installed (I do have X windows installed
and working, but no window manager, they all fail).
Coming up, I have the beta of Trolltech's Qt toolkit v3, which does
run on OS X, and very nice widgets they are, nicely supporting the Aqua
interface. However, Ruby's current library for Qt (by Nobuyuki Horie)
goes up to v2, and since I am not a C++ programmer, I am not able to
help convert it to v3 (hopefully someone will). That done, we can do
some very nice stuff; however, there is still the problem that you need
the app package structure to get menus in the right place (ie on the
menubar). I am sure I can make a Ruby equivalent to MRJAppBuilder
though, and will as soon as I can use Qt.
I did suggest on Apple's feedback page that they port Tk to use Quartz.
