I've been playing around with Rebol. It's pretty much like TCL on steroids with a couple of neat concepts thrown in (eg, VMS style command options). What is really impressive though, is the Desktop. Rather than using the rather clumsy Web browser interface, it utilises a small client to connect to a RAA/CPAN type Library where scripts can be viewed and run without any need to install. It also allows connecting to multiple sites so Rebol'ers can easily publish their own information. The GUI in Rebol is also impressively easy to program. Various other rather nice ideas are scattered around their demos so there's a lot of material to look at and be inspired by. It's worth a look, even if you just use the Desktop to see the possibilities of what could exist for Ruby. -- spwhite / chariot.net.au
