Hi If ruby "wins the race" (if there is a race...), we all win If phyton "wins the race", we win too And (even?) if perl wins, we win too The only _real_ way to loose, is if some propritary, closed_source (and far less elegent IMHO than at least ruby & phyton) language like C# wins. There will be always more than one language. There will even be more than one language for _some_ particular purpose. Different programmes have a different taste, and will therefore like different languages more than others. This has nothing to do with "better", or more "elegent". I think we should stop tellings each other why one language is better than the other, and instead focus on improving _all_ the languages. Maybe, one day, perl, phyton & ruby will even run on the same, unified runtime engine, and we will not really chose the language, but rather the syntax we prefer. greetings, Florian Pflug
