Hello!

I just read that ximian will be doing a .Net-implementation for linux
and other unix's. It might even work on windows.

.Net has a virtual machine that several languages already supports (or
will support soon). Managed C++, Java Script, Eiffel, Component Pascal,
APL, Cobol, Oberon, Perl, Python, Scheme, Smalltalk, Standard ML,
Haskell, Mercury and Oberon.

I would love to see ruby added to that list.

My dream language is almost exactly like ruby but has the option of
compiling to jvm, the .Net vm and binary code as well. I know this is
not really possible because some languages (like ruby) will be too
dynamic (especially for binary-code).

Anyway, the question here is if there has been any thoughts about this??
I know there has been lot's of discussion about ruby in java.

Ruby 2.0 is a complete rewrite of ruby from what I gathered. If one
does a good job of reimplementing ruby it should be possible to add
different back-ends such as one for jvm and one for .net. I also belive
it would be good to try to be cross-platform-compatible. Not needing
cygwin for windows for example. Maybe a Mac-port.

If perl and python can do it why shouldn't ruby ?? :)

btw, is there any information about ruby 2.0?? :)

Just some reflections I had.

/Erik
