Running Suse Linux 6.3 under VMWare box, I compiled it with option -02 without problem, but the same under the host OS NetBSD 1.5, I got a "memory exhausted" error. One file has more than 100.000 lines of code, thus sometime ago I got because of that a "file system full" error due to /tmp being only 100 MB in size! > By the way, has anyone ever been able to compile it under gcc with > optimization, and how much memory did it suck up to compile (out of > curiosity)? Sorry, I didn't measured it, but it's not a problem of memory size, more of the compiler/OS I think. Finally I got it working with NetBSD-1.5-current, with gcc version egcs-2.91.66 19990314 (egcs-1.1.2 release) with -02 turned off and -lgcc added.
