Hi,
I also found reading the Ruby email list in a mail reader very tedious.

I switched to a news reader and the messages are presented much better. All
the conversations are threaded nicely, and it's easy to select which ones I
want to read now (if the subject has some descriptive text about the
content).

I'm using a WinNT box and MsIE:
. Select URL news://comp.lang.ruby
. Configure Outlook Express to subscribe to the newsgroup
. Read it hourly, daily, weekly, etc.

I also set it up on Linux w/ Netscape Communicator.

The biggest problem I had was solved when I realized my firewall was
blocking port 119 and preventing NetNews from reaching me.

Thanks.
