I've been trying to build Ruby 1.6.3 on a couple of platforms. On
Solaris 2.5.1, the configure file runs correctly, and make gets as
compiling 'curses' before it suddenly blows up ('ld' was aborted). As
far as I know, it's a standard 2.5.1 installation. Has anyone had any
experience with building 1.6.3 on this configuration? Or are their
precompiled binaries available?
The second platform I've tried to build on is LinuxPPC (a RedHat
variant running on Macintosh PowerPC hardware). Again, has anyone had
any experience of this? './configure' just gives up from the outset,
saying that I'll need to tell it what platform it's building on. I've
not had much experience with LinuxPPC yet, so I'm not sure what to
tell it.
Any help would be welcomed. Thank you.
