Hey Chris, I'm another "ruby newbie". The book you are waiting for, which I also have, is available in html form at www.rubycentral.com and has a pretty gentle tutorial. Although it wasn't really written for beginners, "Refactoring" by Martin Fowler kept me up all night thinking about the craft and got me into automated unit testing and extreme programming. . BTW, I saw someone has already built a unit testing module for ruby, which is key.
