I have just release XML-RPC for Ruby, version 1.6.1.
It's available at:
  http://www.s-direktnet.de/homepages/neumann/xmlrpc4r

Changes from previous version (1.6.1) are as follows:
  - changed HOWTO (added information on how to use NQXML)
  - NQXML parser support
  - possibility to choose between different XML parsers and XML writers, with
    Client#set_parser/#set_writer and BasicServer#set_parser/#set_writer
  - added HTTP.version_1_1, so now works with Ruby versions > 1.7
  - now you can do XML-RPC calls through a proxy server (Client.new).
    Thanks to Hiroshi.

The most important change is that you can now use NQXML instead of XMLParser.
By default it uses XMLParser so you have to write the following to use NQXML:

  # server

  server = XMLRPC::CGIServer.new # or any instance of subclasses from BasicServer
  server.set_parser(XMLRPC::XMLParser::NQXMLParser)

  # client

  server = XMLRPC::Client(......)
  server.set_parser(XMLRPC::XMLParser::NQXMLParser)

The XML-RPC part using NQXML as parser may have some errors, so be careful
when using it.

Regards

Michael
