The Ruby Forum is "down for maintenance" after a number of security 
breaches on the server where it was hosted. The maintenance will 
probably include changing the hosting arrangements, and relaunching on 
RForum (a Rails-based BBS written by Andreas Schwarz and yours truly).

P.S. Forget the passing woodpecker - what will destroy civilization is 
an evil bastard with spare time.
