Your mischaracterizing this as sarcasm really isn't necessary either. :-)

I don't assume that everyone is familiar with netiquette. And there 
actually happens to have been a time when I hadn't thought of this.

There is nothing here that precludes interleaving. Likewise, 
"*selectively*" doesn't mean Outlook style (sic). Granted, that is not 
exactly obvious.

With the abundance of good examples on comp.lang.ruby, I thought a word to 
the wise would be sufficient. However, in retrospect that is almost 
certainly too big and too indirect and too inconvenient of a leap to 
expect in every case, so I'll expand that section into a longer 
explanation similar to your example to minimize future misunderstandings.
