The mattel_cam.tar.gz quicky program I downloaded (yay!) does only JPG - my 
Subject line was too effusive.

I've gone back to Ruby-Gtk because Imlib can do JPG.

And this afternoon I shall camp out at Barnes & Noble and read all Dave 
Thomas et. al's books!
