Oops, forgot most of the details :-) Programming Ruby is written by "the
pragmatic programmers" David Thomas and Andrew Hunt. The book is published by
Addison Wesley. It's available online, or at least is announced to be
available, from http://www.rubycentral.com. At least the first 70 pages
(that's how far I've progressed so far) are well worthwhile and I think it
fits your description perfectly.
