I did -- not due to the Slashdot comments (which as you observed, are
often uninformed) -- but from the reference in Larry Wall's interview.
I already know Perl and some Python and I was looking to learn
something new, so I picked up a copy of "Programming Ruby" and here
I am ;-)

Learning Ruby has been quite enjoyable, and I'm looking forward to
getting into some real projects with Ruby. And of course, telling
all my friends about it ;-)
