Backport #1065: more human readable output on parsing failure
http://redmine.ruby-lang.org/issues/1065

Author: Roger Pack
Status: Rejected
Priority: Normal
Assignee: Akinori MUSHA
Category:
Target version:

=begin
It would be kind to apply a patch to make parsing errors more human readable for 1.8.x

 ex:

-e:1: syntax error, unexpected tIDENTIFIER, expecting $end
 the output is:
-e:1: syntax error, unexpected identifier, expecting $end

 or:
 -e:1: syntax error, unexpected kEND
 -e:1: syntax error, unexpected end

Something like this appears to exist in 1.9, or the above patches might work.

 Thank you!
