Why does ruby-dev's official archive 
(http://blade.nagaokaut.ac.jp/ruby/ruby-dev/index.shtml), and all the 
other 'official' mailing lists, have a search facility, but ruby-core 
doesn't?

P.S.: I'm only just trying to find out how to create a version of Ruby 
that contains debug information (on cygwin). I succeeded to use the -g 
flag for compilation, but the information gets lost when the .o files 
get combined into .ar and then shared libraries. Any advice appreciated.
