What would the reaction be to reconsidering the following proposal?
The responses at the time seemed inconclusive.

The current situation makes running multiple versions of ruby a little
confusing. In particular I'm worried about rdoc and ri not doing what
one would expect.

[ruby-dev:19370] shebang line of bin/*

   U. Nakamura proposed that an absolute path to installed ruby should
be used
at a shebang line. Currently, the word `ruby' written at a shebang
line of
each file in `bin' directory is replaced with ruby_install_name at
installation
stage. In this proposal, the shebang line will be replaced with an
absolute
   path to installed ruby.
