Incidentally... I've been meaning to email you about this.  I didn't see any 
public kudos for this patch, and I wanted to both encourage and thank you for 
it -- I've been thinking about doing the same thing for a while, myself.

Has Matz said anything about integrating this patch into the main Ruby 
sources?
