I guess this pattern just doesn't come up for me as often as it does  
you.  The name also seems less known that some of the other  
patterns.  Finally, this thread isn't overflowing with examples.  All  
of this makes me feel it's a lesser known pattern.

I guess I would rather see a design patterns library that addressed  
all these little tidbits.

Just to be clear here, Rake is not part of Ruby's Standard Library.
